Here’s Nutmeg, the World oldest cat!

Here’s the new contender to the world’s oldest cat record, here you can see him at his 31st birthday party. If he was human, he would have been just 141 Years old. His name is Nutmeg and one day about 26 years ago he presented himself in the backyard of his owners, therefore choosing to live there with them.

The cat was found way back in 1990 when as a stray he started playing in the owners backyard with their cat named Spice. One day owners Liz and Ian Finlay took Nutmeg to their local Cats Protection because he had an abscess on the neck, and they found out that he was 5 years old minimum. but that was not enough to guarantee Nutmeg the new Guinness World Record! In order to qualify as the potential oldest cat in the World, Liz and Ian needed the documents that would have confirmed his age. That’s quite difficult, but they’re trying to find a solution for this. The 26-year old current record holder is Corduroy.

Last year Nutmeg suffered from a stroke, but he recovered really fine. He’s showing everybody all the lives he’s got, one by one.

He is not our cat, we are his humans and he never lets us forget that. Maybe that is the secret to his long and happy life.

He rules the house and he’s absolutely gorgeous

He is spoilt rotten… He comes in every morning at five am and we get up and feed him
